Drip, Drip, Drip...

Why is my water bill so high? Well, there could be a number of reasons for this.

First of all, it can be caused by leaking faucets and toilets.

A faucet could be leaking without you even knowing it. A good example of this is a laundry faucet. If your laundry faucet has a trap seal primer tube attached to it, the water could be leaking at the faucet and through this tube and down the drain...you wouldn't even notice it.

And then we have toilets! Where do I start? Toilets, without a doubt, are the biggest water wasters in any home!

In the Niagara Region, home owners get charged more than double the amount of money for the water that drains out of our house as we do for the water coming in through the water meter.

Have you ever wondered just how much it costs to let a little drip continue, day after day, month after month, year after year?

We did. We know that little drips can add up to big bucks for Niagara homeowners.

We want you to know it, too, so we added a Water Drip Calculator to our website. It’s part of our Water-Wise Action Plan, which helps homeowners identify problem areas in their home’s plumbing systems.

If you are able to take the time to calculate the wasted water at every faucet and tap in your home, (and don’t forget about those outside hose taps) you will be surprised by how much water is being lost.
